Q.

A.

You told us that you saw one man running alone and three men running together. You have told us that one of the men you

saw before you got into Des Voeux Road was the prisoner. at I want to know is, was the man who was running alone was he

one of the three before you got into Des Voeux Rd.?

I cannot say whether the prisoner was one those that was running and I cannot say he was the man running alone.

You cannot say he was one of the men at all?

I cannot say. I cannot recognise him.

That man over there (Capt. Morgan) says that he was chasing

that man across the Square before he came out to the tram i line, and he followed him and saw him caught, and that there was no Chinese running in front of him at all when he was

caught.

A.

What do you say to that ?

What I had seen was this.

2.

A.

Answer my question? What do you say to this.

He says

emphatically that he saw no other Chinese running between him and the Chinese caught. What do you say to that?

I do not know what the European meant by it when he said he

saw one man running in front of him. I am telling the Court what I have seen.

Mr. Green, stand up please. Did you see this gentleman?

Q.

A.

No.

Q.

A,

That gentleman does say that he saw a man running across the tram

lines and that he saw him run into the afus of a man at

the top of Wardley St.?

I saw several men running up that street, and it was right that one was caught.

Q.

He says

A.

he did not see anybody running in the same direction as the prisoner, no Chinese or any one else?

It might have been that Mr. Green had seen only one man, the

other three ran up ahead of this man who ran alone.
